Waterloo State Recreation Area, Chelsea MI
Hey, thought we might start listing where we're coming from. I'll start: Lansing Eastside, 127 at Saginaw.
OK you next.
Thanks for taking the lead on this, Hogmartin
I'll be coming up from just outside the wire of The Peoples' Republik of AnnArbor (Saline, just west of US12 @ US23)
So, city parks will allow alcohol, but only with a permit, so I'll check on Monday and see if permits are available. Dogs are allowed, leashed, in city parks. Also, city parks do not allow discharge/firing of weapons, with the following exceptions:
If it's pith helmets and Bermuda shorts, then we need a venue that allows gin swilling.
On it! Also dogocentric Hordeians probably wouldn't apprecate a place that excludes them. I guess. Maybe? Look, I don't know how dogs work.
Find one of those cat-petting cafes #NotAEuphemism
Looks like the nearest one is in AA on Jackson road way the hell out by Zeeb road. Oh! There's an MSU "sheep teaching and research" farm south of campus that has tours, but it'll be way past lamb season. I guess you could eat them though.
Hello there! Do you think you might be able to make it down this fall?
You're notionally "on the way" for Skandia Recluse, I think, but I have no idea how far out of the way, how much it would help to share the drive, or if he's even likely to come down.
Rochester Hills, about 30-40 mins north of Detroit
Just doing some cleanup here. New venue suggestions should be up now, with a poll.
Dude, that's where I'm sorta from (Washington, but visit family in RH)
No kidding, small world!
I am actually from Chicago, but moved to SE Michigan in 1999 for work after graduating from college. First lived in Southgate, moved to Garden City when bought first house in 2003, moved to Farmington Hills after lost house to foreclosure in 2011, moved to Rochester Hills to be closer to work (Auburn Hills) in 2013. Been here ever since. Really nice area, close to Stoney Creek Metro Park, lot of bike trails and parks close by.
It will be a nice drive up from Tidewater Virginia to visit some Michigan Morons. Give me an excuse to visit Srodek's in Hamtramck for some kielbasa, and get some Cinn-credible rolls at Meier's.
Howdy! That's a hike, but it certainly would be a nice season for a drive. Eris is planning to come in from MD, but I don't know if she's planning to drive or fly. I also just realized that I have no idea how far MD and Tidewater are from each other so...
AltonJackson and I were just talking about state parks a bit over in the comments section of the venue page, if you have any preferences.
I'll be sure to call Meijer and let them know you'll be filling the trunk.
So, hencefortth we're going to call it a bonwolf, right?
Honestly, I don't think we have a choice.
: shakes tiny fist :
Also now I'm picturing the little green guy over there 👈 doing that.
I'm coming from Monroe. Bonfire sounds great, dog friendly hopefully also.
Cool! I think state parks are pretty good about dogs. That link also mentions a pet lodging option, but I think the nearest park that offers it is Sleepy Hollow. Which is great for me! It's only about 20-30 minutes away from here. Something further east is looking more likely though, since you're +1 for Detroit area.
Are you familiar with any of the parks in this part of the state? Any preferences?
Western Wayne County.
The idea of a MIMoMe is great! I have some reservetions about an outdoor venue in October.
Awesome! Where do you have reservations? 🤣😂
Naw, really, I don't see it being too bad in the very beginning of October or the end of September, but we do have a while before we have to get serious about booking a venue. And with cabins, we would be out of the weather at night.
Did you have another location in mind? Go ahead and kick it around, that's what the site is for.
Novi area, looking forward to this.
Glad you're here, hope to see you at the MoMee. I'll be getting a RSVP headcount for accomodations and door prizes once the date and location are final.
We will be coming from northern Illinois. We are 50 miles west of Lake Michigan. My hubs luurves roadtrips, so there’s that!
You know farmer and Grammie aren’t that far from me I imagine. I think we should have a convoy with o-fficial AOSHQ flags! And chi town Jerry too.
And WI opens up Muad'dib, and, I think, even brings Misanthropic Humanitarian into play. Peaches likewise in Indiana.
We do have Jinx the Cat and possibly Eris showing up all the way from the east coast too. If you can wrangle Farmer and grammie, that'd be great! But if it's just you and the Mr., that's still awesome. I've only met Mikey NTH face to face, but woo doggie, everyone I've talked to who's been to or hosted one of these says it's just like the forums, only better. That sounds amazing.
Hope to see you there! I'll have the location locked down in the next few days - certainly by the first of September. I really should have had it finalized by now, but sometimes I'm not good at: things.
Hi, all! Would be coming from Almont with a bag of apples and a six-pack of Blake's El Chavo.
Hello there! Sorry for the late welcome. Will you be bringing anyone? Hope to see you there!
